Committees

  1. Advocacy Committee
    The Advocacy and Public Policy Committee will research and inform the membership on public policy issues related to the focus and interests of Women in Philanthropy
  2. Human Services Allocations Committee
    The Human Services Allocations Committee will evaluate areas of community need related to the focus of Women in Philanthropy and develop a yearly plan for allocation of funds. In 2003-2004, this committee provided leadership toward funding a family literacy program in the Hopkins Community through Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina.
  3. Arts, Education, and Environment Committee
    The Arts, Education, and Environment Allocations Committee will evaluate areas of community need related to the focus of Women in Philanthropy and develop a yearly plan for allocation of funds. In 2004, this committee provided the leadership to fund an earned income tax incentive program that gave low income families income tax assistance.
  4. Education Committee
    The Education Committee will provide educational information and activities for the Women in Philanthropy initiative with a focus on leadership board development, mentoring roles, community needs and personal development. In January of 2004 the education committee hosted a board training for women, open to the public.<
  5. Mentoring Committee (P.E.T.A.L.S.):
    The P.E.T.A.L.S program (Philanthropy Education to Advance Leadership) is a new initiative designed to allow WIP members to mentor younger women professionals, and to have those women mentor college students and to have those women mentor high school students. Currently there are seven mentees (PETALS) and seven mentors (FLOWERS). If you are interested in becoming a PETAL or FLOWER please let Keely Saye know at 251-3300.
  6. Events Committee
    The Events Committee is responsible for planning all events associated with the Women in Philanthropy initiative and may actively work with other appropriate committees to assist in event implementation. In 2003-2004 the events committee planned the Founders’ breakfast, the Power of the Purse event and the five networking events.
  7. Public Relations Committee
    The Public Relations Committee will promote the Women in Philanthropy initiative through available mediums such as advertising, public relations activities, and printed materials.
  8. Membership Committee
    The Membership Committee will work to retain current members and recruit potential members for Women in Philanthropy.
