United Way of the Midlands Central Carolina Community FoundationWIP members were invited to Nancy Lind's home in Lexington for a celebration of spring time on March 25, 2010. The 35 people who attended enjoyed hor'dourves and cocktails and enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with fellow female philanthropists. Socials like this one aim to bring members together in an informal setting so they can network and get to know each other a little better.
Summer SocialRobin Gorman's home overlooking Finlay Park in downtown Columbia ws the site for a member social on July 30, 2009. The 40 members in attendance were introduced to the 2009-2010 Executive Committee by Stacey Atkinson, incoming Chair. Robin O'Neil from Family Connection of SC, a grantee of WIP, spoke about recent noteworthy accomplishments of the organization.
On April 28th Stacey Atkinson invited members who live in Irmo, Balentine and Chapin to a Neighborhood Social. This intimate gathering of 20 members from the area enjoyed Stacey’s beautiful cottage on Lake Murray. Bunnie Lempesis, director of Partners in Compassion Institute (PIC)spoke about that program’s success and shared accomplishments made possible through the grant provided by Women in Philanthropy.
Chocolate Social On March 31, 2009 more than 40 members attended a social at Elizabeth Gressette’s home in Cayce. We had great wine and hors d’oeuvres featuring a chocolate fountain. Venus Holland, Ed.D , the Superintendent of Lexington School District 2 spoke about the success of their mediation program with the Community Mediation Center, a grantee of Women in Philanthropy.
