Investors in Action

After hearing the executive director of the Nurturing Center speak at an event, WIP members were inspired to reach out and do something to assist  teen mothers. Among the 2010 grants that Women In Philanthropy distributed, the Nurturing Center received $3,500  to help provide parenting classes for local teen parents.  Knowing a mother's needs, the steering committee decided to organized a baby shower to provide supplies such as baby bottles, blankets and other items for mothers who need it most. The shower was held on April 29, 2010 at the Capital Senior Center. All of the mothers who attended were provided with baskets to assist them with their needs and the WIP members who attended appreciated the opportunity to give back in a unique way.
